Topping up Your Tank.

 

I was advised by my counselor about a theory of “topping up our own tank”.

Basically, there are things daily that drain our tank - so we need to do things that ‘top our tank up’ to stay healthy and well.

There are plenty of ways to do this and one includes self-care. Taking time to apply skincare therapeutically and not in a rush (or not at all!) was a moment where I could top my tank up. It made me feel one step closer to being me again! (In mid 2021 I was in a low place and was diagnosed with depression).

After only about three months of following a bunch of simple wellbeing principles, I felt the depression lift. I was determined not only to continue these wellbeing habits but also do more, and that’s when the idea for Merakii was born.

I understand that people want to feel better but it can be quite overwhelming as to where to start. Which is why I have created a simple, two-step ritual. Speaking of, having a morning and night routine incorporating things that feed my soul really helped too.
